MISSION ENEMIES:
During your journey through the difficult course known as WHAP, there will be many difficulties which you will have to overcome in order to reach the level of success that you are aiming for.
Obstacles to be Aware of:
- Procrastination - In this course, it is crucial for you to be on top of all your assignments and not to fall behind. It is a fast moving course with a massive amount of material to cover in a short amount of time, so don't wait to start your homework the night before it's due, or you'll find yourself overwhelmed with the piled up reading and assignments.
- Grades - In high school, the level of competition and students' obsession with their grades and ranks only increases as AP courses come into play. However, it is important to realize that it is okay to get lower grades sometimes. Failing one test or one quiz will not make much of an impact on your overall grade. Don't get discouraged if your grades in the class weren't as high as you were aiming for, because the course is rigorously wired to prepare you for the AP exam. There is always room for improvement. Everyone who had taken WHAP messes his/her grades up at one point - ask anyone who conquered this mission (we've gotten 60s and 70s too!)! We promise you, getting 60s and 70s on WHAP grades will happen to most people and NOBODY IS GOING TO JUDGE YOU BASED ON YOUR WHAP QUIZ OR TEST GRADE! Remember, Grades and rank don't define what a wonderful person you are! Trust yourself and you can fight off anything! One 70 or 50 doesn't mean the end of the world :)
- Stress - The transition from a regular or pre-AP to an AP class is a big one, and you will soon realize that AP courses require a lot of reading and writing. No matter how many assignments you have though, keep your head held high and work through it rather than wasting time stressing about it. To keep your stress levels low, try and make a schedule and plan out your evenings to maximize your time. To be honest, the only way you can ease your stress in WHAP is to NOT PROCASTINATE!!! Yes, you will feel a huge chunk of stress if you wait until the day before to study for your test and do test review!
